In the first issue, it was revealed that there was a secret Loki hiding between the pages and panels of Loki: Agent of Asgard. This Loki doesn’t sound like he has the capability of doing the horrible things that would require turning himself into Loki. Loki definitely feels remorse for all the pain he has caused and to a certain degree-especially teased in the first issue of the series-Loki has been trying to go on missions in secret for Asgard to clear his name. However, it’s hard not to shake the fact that the new Loki character has some good in him as a whole. Now, Loki faces his own demons throughout the issue demons that have permeated into some interesting new developments for the hero. In fact, Loki is so very different, that people simply cannot write the character in the fashion they used to thanks to the writing of people like Kieron Gillen. The journey of Loki has been fascinating over the past couple of years, and it’s incredibly interesting that the character of Loki now has his own history that sets him apart from the other characters in the Thor Universe. He got some new friends, and was actually reborn as a good character under the pen of Matt Fraction. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Coipel, but it was also revealed in that book that Loki could change his shape into.a woman?Īs a woman, Loki was able to do some interesting new things. This was a major plot point in the excellent 2008 Thor series by J. We know that the Old Loki character possesses the power to change his shape. However, there is one character, who since the first issue, has been mysteriously lurking in the shadows of Loki: Agent of Asgard. The new Thor status likely isn’t going to be permanent, as there is definitely going to be a Thor sequel coming up in the comics, and the upcoming Loki character is progressing through his own series actually attempting to do good by the rest of the supporting cast. What if this new Thor character is really Loki in disguise? There are several clues in the new Thor titles that point to a particularly interesting mix of dialogue and intrigue that sets the stage just right for the rest of the Thor supporting cast to jump in and join the freya (get it? I’ll shut up now) of the new Thor identity.
Author Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman are purposefully obfuscating the identity of the heroine. Thor is now the Goddess of Thunder? Or is she still the God of Thunder in disguise? The identity of the brand new Thor character is very much in limbo at the moment.
